Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and this is the year you’ve vowed not to procrastinate. Good for you! Because no mom — I repeat, NO mom — wants a procrastinator’s present. That kind of gift usually reveals you had no shortage of money but plenty of shortage in imagination. To help you avoid insulting Mom with a gift no mom wants, here is my top 5 list of Mother’s Day gift don’ts. What NOT to buy her for Mother’s Day 5. Bubble {Read More}
Southwestern Chopped Salad with a Kick!
This Southwestern Chopped Salad recipe is seriously one of my all-time favorites! I love the Spring! Especially all the amazing produce that starts flooding into the farmers market and the local grocery stores. We tend to eat a bit lighter in the Spring than we do in the Winter, perhaps because of those veggies and that we love to grill outside when the evenings are warm. Last night, I put together one of my favorite salads I’ve been making for years, my {Read More}
We Survived the Paleo Challenge!
Saturday marked the end of our six-week Paleo Challenge at Desert Crossfit. Even though it is approved, it is not highly recommended to eat many during the challenge because of the {Read More}
Paleo Bacon Jalapeno Bread
We are now on day eight of our paleo challenge. Tom says all he does is think about food. He is mesmerized by food commercials. I don’t really notice them. The main thing I’ve noticed is that I’m spending much more time in the kitchen despite the fact that I have had a very busy week. But that’s okay. We are eating REAL FOOD! Tom especially misses bread, so I decided to make him some paleo bacon jalapeño bread. He really liked {Read More}
Homemade Natural Sweetener
So this is day three of our paleo challenge. So far so good! We’ve been filling out our points form nightly, and we’ve both done well. We’ve been eating real food and avoiding all the no-no’s, except for one. We haven’t found a substitute for Vanilla CoffeeMate. But we have a plan! For the cream, we are going to use coconut milk. Unfortunately, the only place I know of that carries coconut milk without carageenan or preservatives is Trader Joe’s, and they {Read More}
