If you love a dose of chocolate each and every day, this Double Chocolate Dessert Hummus is a tasty, vegan, no-guilt way to indulge!
While I enjoy a bit of chocolate every now then, the husband needs his chocolate fix on a daily basis! However, he’s been trying to resist as we’ve been watching what we eat in preparation for our cruise next week.
But he was sad without his chocolate. So I found a solution! Dessert hummus. Chocolate dessert hummus. With mini chocolate morsels!
And I made it in less than five minutes with only five ingredients.
The star of the show? S&W Garbanzo Beans. Who knew garbanzo beans (also known as chick peas) could be the key ingredient in a delicious, healthy dessert?
Now you could (if time is simply not an issue for you) make this recipe with dried garbanzo beans. But there would be a great deal of soaking and cooking involved in that method, making it far more tedious than my five-minute recipe.
S&W Garbanzo Beans made this recipe quick and easy! I used the regular bean variety, but they are also available in low sodium and organic.
I served my dessert hummus with graham crackers, but I’m already thinking how yummy it would be with strawberries. In fact, I think that strawberries stuffed with Double Chocolate Dessert Hummus sounds like the bomb!
Here’s why this dessert is so likable by both kids and adults: It’s very chocolatey (cacao), crunchy (mini chocolate morsels), sweet (maple syrup), full of protein (garbanzo beans) and VEGAN!
How to Make Double Chocolate Dessert Hummus
- 1 15 oz. can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons cacao powder
- 5 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of sea salt
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate mini morsels (use more or less to suit your taste)
- Place first five ingredients in food processor or blender.
- Process until smooth.
- Add more cacao powder or syrup to taste (I didn't need to do this... it tasted great!)
- Stir in chocolate morsels.
- Serve with graham crackers, strawberries, or other fruit.
xoxo,
P.S. Here’s another yummy chocolate dessert! (Warning: this one isn’t guilt free.)
