Are you getting a huge amount of traffic from Pinterest? If not, take these simple steps today!
The holidays are upon us and that is VERY good news for any brand that shares holiday content. You are in a position to DRASTICALLY increase your blog’s monthly pageviews in the next 60 days. And the good news is… your pageview increase will last long after the holidays. It may dip back down in January, but your new “low” will be much higher than your old “high.”
I frequently visit blogs that either (a) don’t have a Pinterest account or (b) even if they do, they don’t display a link to their Pinterest page. If those bloggers ONLY KNEW they were trying to succeed with one hand tied behind their back!
Here’s a case in point. The image below is a screenshot of my Google Analytics on October 30, 2016. My total pageview count for the day was 7,873. {I’m still amazed that THAT many eyeballs could land on my page in a day. In fact, you can see below that yesterday was just a few pageviews short of my record daily number of 7,887,which happened December 23, 2015. Yippeee!}
So here’s what I want you to notice. See that number next to the red arrow? 6831. That’s how many of my 7,873 pageviews came from PINTEREST alone! That’s 6,831 pageviews that I didn’t get prior to really getting my act together when it comes to the power of Pinterest. And, fellow blogger, that’s why YOU, too, need to pay attention to Pinterest.
10 THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY TO START EXPLODING YOUR PAGEVIEWS WITH PINTEREST
1- Create a Pinterest business account, or convert your existing account to a business account. One of the many benefits of doing this is access to invaluable Pinterest Analytics. (Learn how here)
2- Make sure your board titles and descriptions are key word and SEO friendly.
3- Create and pin long, vertical images that are pin-worthy! These are the easiest to see in the Pinterest feed and will lead to more repins.
4- Write lengthy, key-word dense descriptions of your pins.
5- Use text overlays on all your blog post images so that pinners can clearly see the topic of your pin.
6- Revisit old posts and optimize for Pinterest with higher quality, more relevant images and descriptions.
7- Use a scheduler to pin throughout the day rather than all at once. I personally use Tailwind and highly recommend it. Try one month free to see if you love it as much as I do!
8- Join group boards to get your pins in front of more eyes!
9- Verify your website on Pinterest so that you can link back to your website from your Pinterest page.
10- Install a “Pin It” button on your website to make it easy for readers to pin your images. If you hover over the image at the top of this post, you’ll see the custom “Pin It” button I’ve installed.
These are just a few of the many steps you can follow to start taking advantage of the powers of Pinterest! Stay tuned for more tips in the coming weeks!

Good advice! I believe that Pinterest is a valuable tool. I need to work on some of your points above to help my traffic. What did you use to create your graphic that you pinned for this post?
Hi Lisa,
I used PicMonkey!
I’m working on revising old posts with new photos, keywords, etc. I’m struggling with getting Pinterest to convert to my site even though I’m growing rapidly on Pinterest. More to research and learn! Visiting from Inspiration Monday party.
Hi Victoria, Let me know if you have specific questions… I’d love to help!
Thanks for sharing these tips! I did the free Tailwind about 2 months ago, then switched to paid about a month ago. What a game changer! I love that I can schedule so many pins, and especially the ability to schedule to multiple pages. I still need a lot of work on my board and pin descriptions though, and that is next on my list
Thanks for sharing! I think I am doing if not all of those, most of those tips so I’m hoping to start gaining some traffic from Pinterest. Such a great post though, thank you!
