There’s a story behind this project. Last week in Dallas, I was blessed to visit one of my oldest friends, Norm, and his sweet wife, Robin. I grew up with Norm in Monroe, LA, and then attended SMU with him and Robin in the early 80s. Robin and I are Facebook friends, so I was aware that she has a 22-year-old niece who was diagnosed with Leukemia a few weeks ago. Reagan is currently undergoing her first of four rounds of chemo, which will be followed by a bone marrow transplant from her sister. She has a long path to recovery in front of her. Will you join me in praying for Reagan’s complete healing? #prayforrea
Robin shared with me that one of Reagan’s other aunts created a God Box for her. It’s a special, DIY box that captures the heart and the spirit of the person for whom it is created. It serves as a place to store prayers and thoughts to God. I love this idea! Just think… you put your prayers, meditations, wishes, dreams and thoughts to God in the box. Then later, you can look back to see how He has so graciously answered your prayers and desires of your heart! Reagan’s God Box clearly captures the spirit of this sweet girl.
I thought that you, dear readers, might like to create a God Box of your own or for someone else who might appreciate receiving one. So I asked my future daughter-in-law, Rachel, to help me in this DIY project. Together we made a box for Rachel to take back for her senior year at Texas Tech.
Very few supplies are needed: white cigar box, Mod Podge (we used glossy), sponge brush, acrylic paint and a few magazines (all supplies can be found at Michaels).
First, we painted the box mint green, one of Rachel’s favorite colors. While it was drying, Rachel thumbed through some of her favorite magazines and cut out pictures and words she loved.
Next came the fun MOD PODGE magic! You just carefully place your cut-outs on the box and paint over them with your Mod Podge.
It’s so simple! Here’s how Rachel’s God Box turned out.
Her box turned out so cute, and I got to spend time with my sweet daughter to be!
Happy Tuesday, friends!

That is really cute! I have never done anything with mod podge, but I have a bottle! This looks like a fun idea and great gift for Emma’s teachers!
yes!
This is a great project. I will have to try these with my boys. I think that they would enjoy this!
Thanks for visiting, Amy. Yes- I think they would love it! Plus, as Lori said in comment above, it would make a cute teacher gift.
Prayers for Reagan – she seems to have a great support system during this difficult time! This is such a sweet, encouraging gift! Thank you so much for sharing at the Merry Monday Link Party!
What a lovely idea, and such a nice thing to do with someone special. Wishing Reagan strength and a speedy recovery x
What a sweet and thoughtful gift to give someone! Yes I will pray for Reagan–that’s a battle no one wants to face. Prayers and caring gifts like this will surely make that battle a little bit easier. I’m so glad you shared this idea with us!
