Looking for a unique DIY gift for holidays or other special occasions? I’m sharing a super creative and easy-to-make project that certainly fits the bill… DIY Painted Antlers. The antlers I’m showing you today were a project by the talented Shandi Tabler from The White Kitten Bakes.
Did you know that deer shed their antlers every year? Yep, they do. If you don’t have any spare antlers around your house, you can find them online, at antique stores, or at hunting shops. You could also apply the same technique shown here to an interesting branch.
MATERIALS
Antlers
Acrylic paint and paint brush (or spray paint if your prefer)
Painters tape
Wax paper
1 Set aside a piece of wax paper to set your antler on to dry.
2 Decide on your paint pattern/design.
3 Paint the first color where you wish on antler.
4 Allow that color to dry for 15-20 minutes.
5 Apply painters tape to create borders for your second paint color.
6 Allow to dry for 15-20 minutes.
7 Remove tape.
8 Your painted antlers are finished!
You can use these to decorate a mantle or shelf, or hang them on a wall as a unique coat rack or jewelry holder!
