How I Use My Intentional Life Planner To Live with Purpose

This has been a big week over here at Tabler Party of Two! I was finally able to finish the final touches on the project I’ve been working on for a few months: My Intentional Life Planner. Yesterday I shared an overview of the plan, which includes simple tools, calendars, and 45+ printables to help you live life with purpose and intention.

How I Use My Intentional Life To Live with Purpose

Today I want to share with you  — at a really practical level — how I use My Intentional Life Planner to live each and every day with more intentionally. And at the end, I’ll share with you helpful supplies and binder options to give you some inspiration! Once you print out your digital download of the plan, place everything in a binder, and then work it everyday, you’ll soon be headed in the direction YOU want to go when it comes to your personal life priorities. 🙂

First thing you’ll want to print is the cover page. Be sure to print it on cover stock so that you can slip it into the front of a view binder. (I LOVE my orange binder!)

Of course I have the My Intentional Goals section at the beginning. First things first when we are aiming to get more purposeful, right? I hope this is the first place you will start! Because, as the saying goes, if you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time!

The goals section is designed to help you hone in on what areas of your life you’re doing great and what needs improvement. It’s very important for you to do this exercise alone… without input from anyone else. Just you ranking you.

Personal InventoryIronically, you’ll most likely find that the areas you score yourself lowest are very likely to be high on your life priority list. Funny, isn’t it? But the truth of the matter is that sometimes these areas don’t scream out at us for attention. Or perhaps they’re easiest to put on the back burner while we pursue what’s right in front of us.

On these first few pages of My Intentional Life Planner, I’ll walk you through a few more exercises that will help you to identify your Primary Priority (the one you’ll first start with) and your Pivotal Goal. Then I’ll show you how to use your self-inventory sheet, daily planner and review sheets to implement tasks and accountability measures to make sure  you consistently stay on target to accomplish what’s most important to you.

Daily Planner

Your daily planning page is the one you will use the most. I recommend printing either 30, 60 or 90 at the beginning so you always have plenty available. You can either print these on your home printer or send them to someplace like OfficeMax.

In addition to keeping you on target to reach your Pivotal Goal, your daily planning sheet is also a valuable tool for recording your quiet time/meditation, workout, daily steps, glasses of water, meals, a review of your day, and more. These sheets will reveal your progress over time. REMEMBER: the most important part of this page is recording — and acting upon — the three tasks related to your Pivotal Goal. I find it helpful to look back at this page several times throughout the day.

Next you’ll find the Calendar section. I’ve included another copy of the daily planning sheet there, as well as a weekly planning sheet and monthly calendar pages. I’ve left them all blank so that you can reprint and use them year after year if you wish.

April Calendar

The next section is called Notes. I’ve designed three, different, pretty pages for you to take notes, journal, keep lists… or anything else you want!

Next, it’s time for your Organized Family! This section has a page to record birthdays and all your other special dates. I’m SO BAD about remembering to send gifts and cards. So this is one of my favorite pages.  This area also includes an event planning sheet to keep track of all the details of birthday parties and other special occasions you plan.

Special Dates

The Meal Planning tab is one I’ll be flipping to quite a bit. No more writing my grocery list haphazardly and in no order on a piece of paper. This handy list is divided by category to make your shopping simpler and more efficient. I keep several of these pages in my binder and pull out my current list when it’s time to head to the store. You can also keep it on your refrigerator. Whatever works for you! The section also includes a meal planning page. This is super handy to use at the beginning of the week to plan out meals for the next several days.

Grocery List

My Intentional Finances is one of my favorite parts of the binder. I actually use an online budget tool by Dave Ramsey. But I find it very helpful to keep records here as well. If you aren’t using an online tool, you’ll find this section even more helpful for keeping track of your expenses, account information, and financial goals.

Finances

In my binder, I recommend printing out several of the Daily/Weekly/Monthly cleaning checklists. Then you can either use there in your binder, or you can frame one and use a dry erase marker to check items off your list. This section also includes a sheet called Keeping It Clear, to help stay on top of all the cleaning tasks in your family.

Cleaning

I included a separate tab for Organization. This section has two helpful pages that you can print on an Avery full sheet label and use to organize boxes and bins.

Labels

The last section of My Intentional Life Planner is Miscellaneous. You can put just about anything here! I’ve included four printable pages that I think you’ll find to be very helpful.

First, there is a page to print and give to housesitters when you travel. I keep a master filled out and then copy from that the pertinent information that needs to be conveyed each time we go out-of-town. The section includes a packing list and password keeper, as well. The last page has graphics for your tabs and the spine of your binder.

Okay… just one more thing left. Supplies! I thought I’d share with you what I personally use for my binder. You can order all of them with Amazon Prime or as an add-on item. Makes it so easy!
