Mantle Makeover
I love the floor-to-ceiling white brick fireplace in our new mid-century home. With one exception. It doesn’t have a mantel. We’ll get one eventually, but it’s not a priority right now. In fact, it normally doesn’t bother me because I like the shells hanging above the fireplace.
But for Christmas, it needs a mantle above the stockings. For this year, I came up with a solution that would give the general appearance of a mantel. I think it works!
I simply attached a pretty green garland of leaves with some Command hooks and tape. The stockings look so much better with the mantel of greenery above them!
Wreath
Next I needed to fill the giant white space above. I purchased a large wreath at Michaels, along with some decorative Christmas paper and some glittery letters.
After fluffing up the wreath, I cut little squares of paper and made a little bunting that says “JOY.” Last, I attached some mid-century inspired ornaments and a bow, both of which I’ve had for a few years.
It fills the space quite nicely!
What do you think? Hope your holidays are going well!

Adorable. Your fireplace is like a white canvas for decor. Love the year round shells too. Wish I could see your Christmas house:)
Thanks Michelle! I’d LOVE to see your Christmas house, too!
I did something similar with ours. I added lights to the wreath with a battery operated string of lights. One day we will have a mantel too!
Great idea and a wonderful solution to your fireplace without a mantel!!
Great idea! I haven’t found the perfect place to hang our stockings yet in this house. We don’t have a fireplace, but I think this would work on one of the walls in our dining room to anchor the stockings.
