Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and this is the year you’ve vowed not to procrastinate. Good for you! Because no mom — I repeat, NO mom — wants a procrastinator’s present. That kind of gift usually reveals you had no shortage of money but plenty of shortage in imagination. To help you avoid insulting Mom with a gift no mom wants, here is my top 5 list of Mother’s Day gift don’ts.
What NOT to buy her for Mother’s Day
5. Bubble bath, bath salts or lotion. Sure they smell nice and come in pretty packaging, but seriously… the care and creativity factor is zip.
4. An e-card with music. I guess it’s better than nothing, but it screams “I forgot it was Mother’s Day!”
3. Keepsake jewelry with the word “mom” on it. It’s a no-no.
2. A giant teddy bear (or teddy bear of any size), delivered right to her front door. Mom lost interest in stuffed animals by the age of 5 or 6. She’s not going to start loving them again now.
1. Footy pajamas with a hood. Please, under no circumstances. Never. Ever.
